General Considerations

Choosing aesthetic or reconstructive surgery is a personal decision that requires a fair amount of thought and consideration. Prior to your appointment, take some time to think about the specific attributes that you wish to address. Then discuss your concerns at your scheduled appointment.

Dr. Antonyshyn will help you understand what you can realistically expect if you choose surgery. Examine the benefits and limitations that surgical procedures offer and carefully weigh the options before making a decision to proceed.

Consultation

Your private consultation is a time set aside for you to discuss with Dr. Antonyshyn the specific issues that concern you. The goals of the consultation are to determine which surgical options are likely to be most effective in achieving the results you desire, and to educate you about the procedure and anticipated result. Potential risks and complications will be thoroughly discussed. This will allow you to make a well-informed decision as to whether or not surgery is in your best interest.

During the consultation, you will be asked to provide details about your medical history and a list of all medication you currently take. A physical examination will be conducted by Dr. Antonyshyn, and preoperative reference photographs will be taken. Additional investigations or assessments will be ordered as required.

Computer Imaging

To assist you in your decision making, we offer state-of-the-art computer imaging. Digital photos are manipulated to visually preview the effect that certain procedures would have on altering your appearance. Although not applicable in all cases, computer imaging allows you to explore surgical options and determine if the simulated changes meet your expectations.

Preoperative Appointment

Prior to surgery, Dr. Antonyshyn will meet with you once more. The purpose of this visit is to review your clinical findings and photographs, and discuss the results of any medical imaging, lab investigations, or consultations that were previously ordered. The planned surgical procedure, anticipated result and postoperative recovery are described in detail. This visit provides you with an opportunity to ask Dr. Antonyshyn any further questions and to review your decision.
