Procedure
  • Titanium, bone substitutes or the patient’s own bone are shaped and fitted precisely to the defect to restore normal skull shape
  • Computer assisted design is used to develop and manufacture custom polymer implants for extensive or complex cranial defects
Recovery
  • Patients recover in hospital for 3 - 4 days
  • Incisions are healed within 2 weeks
  • Return to school or work after 2 weeks, but no strenuous activity or contact sports for 8 weeks
